Planning a Knee Wall Shower Enclosure
A knee wall can create a natural boundary between the shower and nearby bathroom features while keeping the room open and bright. Because the glass must follow the finished wall, curb, and tile precisely, knee wall shower enclosures are custom measured after the surrounding surfaces are complete.
Measure After the Tile Is Finished
The height, width, and angle of the tiled wall determine the final glass dimensions. If the knee wall or curb is slightly out of level or square, the glass may need to be shaped to fit the opening. Measuring after tile installation helps prevent oversized gaps and creates a cleaner finished appearance.
Door Placement and Glass Support
The shower door must have enough clearance from vanities, toilets, towel bars, and other nearby fixtures. Depending on the layout, the door may hinge from the wall or from a fixed glass panel. Larger panels and corner returns may require additional clips, hinges, or support hardware to keep the enclosure stable.
